Harris County Project Recovery Program Gears Up for
for Pending Arrival of $1.1 Billion in HUD Disaster Funds
Time to register your Interest at www.harrisrecovery.org if you live within Harris County but outside of the City of Houston
After months of studies, public hearings, surveys, planning, and approvals, Harris County Project Recovery is starting a program rollout. Home repair, elevation, relocation and reimbursement costs are among the array of assistance soon to be offered.
Harris County Project Recovery, www.harrisrecovery.org will be the information and connection hub to Harris County residents living outside the City of Houston, but inside other small cities and unincorporated Harris County.
“We are anticipating that funding will arrive by the end of the year. But now is the time for the residents who flooded to go online learn about the programs and register their interest. There is plenty of preliminary work we can do now before the funding arrives. ” Daphne Lemelle said.
At Harris County Project Recovery, www.harrisrecovery.org you may register your interest through a pre-application process, sign-up for program updates and find out where to call or email for answers to specific questions. Those who qualify will be moved to an application process where they will receive a password and individual counseling to help keep the process moving.
One program, the Homeowner Buyout Program/CDBG-DR is currently underway due to an earlier funding allocation. This is for a specific group of residents pre-identified as being in buyout areas with a high risk of future flooding coupled with economic challenges. Details of the Homeowner Buyout Program and where to apply are also available at www.harrisrecovery.org
